What motivates you may not motivate others. Plus: How many people land in the center of the DiSC circumplex?, an inside look at certification, new features in Catalyst, events, and more.
Are you trying to motivate your employees, customers, or clients? You may be following the golden rule: Treating others like you would want them to treat you. But at some point you’ll probably discover that what motivates you doesn’t always motivate them. Instead, consider this alternative: Treat others as they want to be treated.
As far as professional motivation, this means understanding the needs of different types of people and making sure your motivational efforts speak to all styles.
The two-week Everything DiSC® Certification course teaches the principles of DiSC as well as facilitation and coaching techniques. But what is it really like? We talked to two newly-minted Everything DiSC Certified Practitioners to find out.
Enhancements to Your Groups on Catalyst
In the “Your Groups” space on Catalyst, learners can now:
Q: How many people fall right in the center of the DiSC circumplex?
A: We know what percentage of people fall in each quarter of inclination. The first quarter – the one closest to the center of the circumplex – is by far the smallest population, at only 2.0%. The percentage of those very close to the center, then, is even smaller than 2.0%.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the percentages for each quarter:
First quarter (closest to center of circumplex): 2.0%
Second quarter (“slightly to moderately inclined”): 16.2%
Third quarter (“moderately to strongly inclined”): 45.2%
Fourth quarter (closest to outside of circumplex): 36.6%
